Sctp in Battlefield Networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) is a new Internet standards track transport layer protocol. SCTP was originally designed to transport PSTN signaling messages over IP networks, but is also capable of serving as a general purpose transport protocol. As such, SCTP provides an alternative that may be better able to satisfy the requirements of future battlefield networks than the traditional transport protocols, TCP and UDP. Unlike traditional transport protocols, SCTP allows multiple streams of messages within a single connection (or, in SCTP terminology, a single association). As the results in this paper show, this ability is particularly helpful in reducing latency for streaming multimedia in high loss environments. SCTP also provides features for multi-homing that may be helpful in highmobility environments and additional security against denial-of-service attacks based on SYN flooding.

متن کاملNew CMT-SCTP with increased speed of data transmission
Communication protocols issues are one of the effective factors in communicated networks performance. One of challenging problem in CMT-SCTP which sends data by multipath concurrently is Receive Buffer Blocking. This problem has important role in data transmission speed in computer networks. In this paper, we propose a control method based on fuzzy logic so that can solve Receive Buffer Blockin...
متن کاملConcurrent Multipath Transfer Using Transport Layer Multihoming: Performance during Network Failures
Recent research on Concurrent Multipath Transfer using SCTP multihoming (CMT) proposed various retransmission policies to minimize the negative impacts of receiver buffer (rbuf) blocking that occurs during congestion. Here we investigate CMT’s throughput degradation caused by rbuf blocking during complete and/or short-term network failures. To improve CMT’s performance during failure, we introd...
متن کاملImproving the Performance of SCTP Transport Protocol over Wireless Networks
Stream Control Transmission Protocol(SCTP) is a reliable transport protocol combining the advantages of TCP and UDP. SCTP has many desirable features including multihoming, multistreaming, and partial data reliability. These features have made SCTP perform much more effectively in multimedia networking applications. They have also worked better in wireless environment which traditional transpor...
متن کاملExperimental Performance Studies of SCTP in Wireless Access Networks*
The Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) is a new general-purpose transport layer protocol developed by the IETF. Compared with TCP, SCTP has two distinct features: multi-homing and multi-stream. Our work investigates the SCTP performance in various network environments, and its availability for different applications. This paper proposes a SCTP multi-homing scheme as the transport layer...
